Montgomery, Ala. (Jan. 28, 2008) –
Alfa Insurance today announced an overall 4.8 percent reduction
in auto insurance rates for Alabama policyholders. The new
rates will become effective April 15, 2008, but will be implemented
on a gradual basis as part of the company’s program
to introduce multi-car policies. Once converted, Alabama customers
will save an estimated $18 million annually.
“This rate reduction is part of our continuing commitment
to keep auto insurance affordable,” said Jerry A. Newby,
Alfa President and Chief Executive Officer. “In fact,
once this rate reduction is fully implemented, Alfa’s
rates will be about 10 percent lower than comparable rates
10 years ago. Combined with our best-in-the-business claims
service and Alfa agents located in every county in the state,
this rate reduction should be welcome news for Alabama drivers.”
Consumers can save even more on their insurance premium by
taking advantage of a variety of available discounts, including
length-of-service, multi-car, driver training and combination
auto-home discounts.
In July 2007, Alfa began converting its Alabama auto insurance
customers to multi-car policies which offer more flexible
payment options, lower down payments and increased discounts.
As each customer’s policies are converted, these additional
discounts approved by the Alabama Department of Insurance
will take effect. The actual premium adjustment for each policy
will vary. Customers are advised to contact their Alfa agent
for information about their specific policies. Consumers who
are not currently Alfa customers can find information about
their nearest agent here at www.alfains.com.
Alfa and its affiliates provide insurance and other financial
services to more than 1 million customers in 13 states.
