Montgomery, Alabama (March 6, 2006) -- Alfa is mourning the loss of former Executive Vice President of Marketing Wayne Hawkins who passed away on Sunday, March 5 following a brief illness. He was 68.

Hawkins began his career as an agent in 1964. He worked his way up in the company over four decades of service with Alfa. He retired from his current position on March 1, 2006 following the diagnosis of a serious illness.

He is survived by his wife, Helen, and two sons, Alfa Agent Terry Hawkins and Alfa District Manager Chuck Hawkins. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Youth Ministry of the First United Methodist Church in Ft. Payne where his six grandchildren are active members. The address is 206 Grand Avenue NW, Ft. Payne, AL 35967.

A successor to Hawkins has not yet been named.
