Alfa Offers Grace Period For Victims Of Hurricane Katrina

Montgomery, Alabama (Sept. 3, 2005) – In recognition of the disruption and hardship a hurricane like Katrina can cause, Alfa will provide additional time for payments for qualified policyholders in the areas most affected by Hurricane Katrina.

The extension provides relief to victims of Hurricane Katrina who have been temporarily displaced due to storm damage or who have faced a disruption in their mail service, leaving them unable to receive and respond to mail in a timely manner. A "victim of Hurricane Katrina" generally means a policyholder has suffered damages from Hurricane Katrina, and "disruption of mail services" means the U.S. Postal Service was unable to deliver mail due to inaccessibility resulting from Hurricane Katrina to a policyholder for three or more consecutive days. Contact your local Alfa service center or the Home Office if you believe you qualify for this extension.

Should you need to report a claim, please contact your local Alfa agent as soon as possible. Our claims staff has been working around the clock since the storm made landfall and adjusters have already begun the process of inspecting damaged property. If you have notified us please know that we are doing our best to take care of your claims as quickly as possible and appreciate your patience.
