Alfa Insurance Names Beth Chancey Senior Vice President of P&C Operations
MONTGOMERY, Ala., January 2018 — Alfa Insurance® Executive Vice President of Operations Tommy Coshatt has announced the promotion of Beth Chancey to Senior Vice President of Property & Casualty (P&C) Operations effective Feb. 1. Chancey replaces Coshatt, who was promoted to his current position following the recent retirement of Steve Rutledge.
“It is my pleasure to announce the promotion of Beth Chancey to Senior Vice President of P&C Operations,” Coshatt said. “A 30-year veteran of Alfa, Beth has earned the respect of management, coworkers, agents, the Alabama Farmers Federation Board of Directors and industry colleagues for her knowledge, work ethic and positive attitude.”
Coshatt said he was confident the company’s P&C operations would excel under Chancey’s direction.
“Beth is a proven leader with a record of motivating successful teams, fostering innovation and encouraging engagement,” he said of Chancey, who most recently served as Vice President of P&C Underwriting. “I am confident Beth will bring the same wise leadership to her new role, where she will be responsible for P&C Underwriting, P&C Actuarial Services, Billing and Distribution Services.”
Chancey joined the Alfa staff in 1988 and was named manager of Homeowner Underwriting in 1995. She was promoted to Vice President of Property and Commercial Underwriting in 2000 before being asked to lead Alfa’s combined P&C Underwriting team in 2014. In her most recent position, Chancey was instrumental in the company’s successful implementation of Guidewire. She also provided leadership for transitioning Alfa from a product-oriented underwriting approach to a customer account view, allowing the company to better serve policyholders and the field force.
“I’m extremely excited for the opportunity to lead the P&C Operations team and work alongside so many talented individuals,” Chancey said. “Alfa and the Alabama Farmers Federation have been part of my life for as long as I can remember, as my dad served on the Macon County Farmers Federation’s board, and I’m proud to continue this tradition of service to a company I love. Together with the P&C Operations team, we will work to strengthen the company’s service to our customers and deliver long-term growth and profitability.”
A graduate of the University of Alabama with a degree in communications, Chancey represents Alfa with various groups including the State of Alabama Energy and Residential Codes Board of Directors, Alabama Auto Insurance Plan Governing Committee, and Mississippi Auto Insurance Plan Governing Committee. She is a graduate of Leadership Montgomery and the Alfa Leadership Academy.
Chancey serves as Senior Warden of the Vestry at Grace Episcopal Church in Pike Road, where she also serves in Education for Ministry, the lay leadership program. Additionally, she participates in Alfa’s Meals on Wheels outreach program and is treasurer of the Auburn University Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority House Board of Directors.
Chancey has two daughters — Rebecca Chancey Lee (John), a physical therapist in Birmingham, and Anna Vail Chancey, a recent graduate of Auburn University.
