Venable Named Senior Vice President, Chief Risk, Compliance and Privacy Officer for Alfa Insurance
Montgomery, Ala., April 19, 2017 — Alfa Insurance® Executive Vice President and General Counsel Angie Bradwell has announced the promotion of Craig Venable to Senior Vice President, Chief Risk, Compliance and Privacy Officer effective April 18. Venable most recently served as vice president of Audit Services.
“With Craig's deep knowledge of Alfa and its processes, I can think of no better person to head up this strategic role within the organization,” Bradwell said. “I am confident that under his leadership, Alfa will maintain a centralized and focused objective on compliance with the ever-changing regulatory and legal challenges faced by businesses today.”
In his new position, Venable will provide strategic oversight in the development and implementation of effective and cost-efficient programs across all Alfa companies and business units for Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Compliance, Privacy, Audit and Corporate Insurance. He will also provide administrative supervision and guidance to the Audit Services Department and will support the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors in the fulfillment of their functional oversight role.
Venable joined Alfa in 2001 as Senior Auditor, was promoted to Audit Manager in 2003 and assumed the role as head of the Audit Services Department in 2005.

Venable holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Auburn University at Montgomery. His professional designations include Certified Management Accountant, Certified Financial Manager, Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Fraud Examiner, while his professional affiliations include the Association of Fraud Examiners, Institute of Internal Auditors, Internal Insurance Audit Group, Institute of Management Accountants, and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.
Additionally, Venable is a graduate of the 2014 inaugural Alfa Leadership Academy and received accreditation in Internal Quality Assessment/Validation that same year. He was named Competent Toastmaster in 2003, was a Gold Medalist in Osterio's Risk-Based Integrated Auditing Exam in 2001, and holds insurance licenses in Property/Casualty, Life and Health lines.
Venable and his wife, Renae, have three children — Evan, 23, and twins Will and Jana, 18. They are active in the First Baptist Church of Eclectic, where he serves as deacon.Back to Press Releases
