Jimmy Parnell's Headshot

Jimmy Parnell, Alfa President and CEO
Parnell is a native of Stanton, Ala., and a graduate of Auburn University in agricultural business and economics. He served on Alfa’s board of directors from 1999-2008; was chairman of the Alabama Farmers Federation Young Farmers State Committee in 1997; and was president of the Chilton County Farmers Federation from 2006-2012. In 1999, he and his family were named Alabama’s Outstanding Young Farm Family.

Parnell is a fifth-generation farmer and a partner in his family’s beef cattle farm and timber business. In 2006, the Alabama Forestry Association named him Alabama Logger of the Year. He has served in numerous leadership roles for business, environmental, agricultural organizations that include Central Alabama Farmers Co-op board of directors, Chilton County Water Authority, Chilton County Soil and Water Conservation District, National Cattlemen Beef Association and the Alabama Forest Fund. In 2015, Yellowhammer News named Parnell one of Alabama's most powerful and influential leaders.

He and his wife, Robin, have two children, James Robert and Anna Grace. They attend Hillcrest Baptist Church in Maplesville.
   

Angela L. Bradwell, Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary
Bradwell joined Alfa’s legal team in 1997 as Assistant General Counsel and was promoted to Vice President, Associate General Counsel in 2005. Bradwell was formerly employed with KinderCare Learning Centers, Inc., as Assistant General Counsel and Assistant Secretary. Prior to KinderCare, Bradwell was in private practice with the law firm of Parnell, Crum & Anderson in Montgomery. Bradwell is a graduate of the University of Mississippi School of Law, and was admitted to the Mississippi Bar in 1991 and the Alabama Bar in 1992. Her undergraduate degree is in Business, also from the University of Mississippi. Bradwell has legal experience in corporate governance and compliance, human resources, real estate, transactional, mergers & acquisitions, litigation, and regulatory law.
   
Tommy Coshatt, Executive Vice President, Operations
Tommy Coshatt, Executive Vice President, Operations

Tommy began his career with Alfa as an agent in Birmingham, Alabama in 2006, was promoted to District Sales Manager in 2009, and later served as Vice President of South Alabama Sales. In 2014, he was named Senior Vice President of P&C Underwriting and led efforts to improve Alfa’s personalized service by transitioning the company from a product-oriented to a customer-focused approach. In his current role as EVP, Operations, Tommy is responsible for Alfa’s P&C and Life Operations, Information Technology and Strategic Initiatives, Product and Data Management, Business Innovation, and Claims Operations. 

He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Auburn University and a master’s degree in public administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Property Casualty Insurance Association.

   
Mark Evans, Senior Vice President, Mississippi Marketing
Mark Evans, Executive Vice President of Marketing

Mark joined Alfa’s Marketing team in 1987 as an Agent and promoted to District Sales Manager in 1998. He is a consecutive four-time member of Alfa's President's Club and was named District Manager of the Year for Georgia and Mississippi in 2009. In 2010, Mark was named Vice President of Mississippi Sales and Development before promoting to Regional Vice President in 2013. He later transitioned his focus to lead South Alabama's marketing efforts in early 2017 before being named Senior Vice President of Marketing for South Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi in 2020. Mark was promoted to Executive Vice President of Marketing in 2021. His experience as an independent agent and reputation for building successful teams at the district and regional level have prepared him well for this new role. 

A native of Columbus, Miss., Mark studied business at Mississippi State University. He and his wife, Jean Ann, are members of Rock Creek Missionary Church in Arley, Ala. and Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus, Miss. They have one son, Christopher, and four granddaughters, Evans, Emma Jane, Kate, and Carrington.

Forrest began his career with Alfa in 1992 as a tax specialist. He was promoted to manager of Compensation in 1995 and named vice president of Compensation, Benefits and Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) in 2001. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Mississippi State University, and a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Alabama. His professional certifications include Certified Public Accountant (CPA - retired) in the State of Alabama. He passed the Senior Professional, Human Resources (SPHR) from the Society of Human Resource Management, and he also successfully completed the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) exam from the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans. 
   
Chad Edwards, Senior Vice President, Product & Data Management
Chad Edwards, Senior Vice President, Product and Data Management
Edwards began his career with Alfa in 1997 and worked in the processing and underwriting departments until he was promoted to Project Manager in 2004. He later served as Director of Business Development from 2010 to 2018 before being named Vice President of Strategic Resources, where he led the Analytics, Business Intelligence and Reporting teams. In his current role as SVP, Product and Data Management, Edwards continues his responsibilities with the Strategic Resources teams, and also manages the P&C Actuarial department, Alfa’s Project Management Office, and P&C and Life Product Development and Innovation. Edwards earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Faulkner University and a master's degree in business administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Hemmings joined Alfa in 1999 as a Fixed Income Portfolio Manager, was promoted to Vice President of Investments in 2006 and named Senior Vice President and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) in 2011. In 2017, he was promoted to Chief Financial Officer (CFO) while continuing to serve as Senior Vice President and CIO. Prior to joining Alfa, Hemmings worked with Wachovia Securities in Charlotte, North Carolina, as a Vice President and Fixed Income Strategist. Hemmings is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in finance and economics. He later received a master’s degree in business administration from Auburn University. He has served on the board of directors for Goodwill Industries and Easter Seals of Central Alabama.
 
Bryan Hubbard

Bryan Hubbard, Senior Vice President, Claims
Hubbard began his career with Alfa in 1989 as an adjuster and was promoted to district claims manager in 1999. He most recently served as vice president of Claims, a role he's held since 2012. Hubbard earned a degree in finance from Troy University, where he was a member of the 1984 and 1987 National Championship football teams. He holds a juris doctorate from Birmingham School of Law.

Pace joined Alfa in 2005. Prior to joining Alfa, Pace held a variety of insurance operational positions over an 11 year period with Direct General Corp. based in Nashville, Tenn. Pace is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor's degree in Finance.

A certified public accountant (CPA) and attorney, Julie began her career with Alfa as an internal auditor in 1994 and most recently served as Vice President, P&C Controller. In January 2021, she was promoted to Senior Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer. In this role, she is responsible for leading all Accounting Department operations including internal and statutory financial reporting and analysis for Alfa’s P&C and Life Companies; corporate budgeting and capital modeling; catastrophe reinsurance; and Alfa’s financial systems. Julie exemplifies true leadership, and her ability to work with all levels of management has earned her respect throughout the organization. Julie is also a graduate of the inaugural Alfa Leadership Academy. Prior to her career with Alfa, Julie worked nearly five years in public accounting. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Troy University and a Juris Doctorate from Jones School of Law at Faulkner University.

   
Mike Rowell, Senior Vice President & Chief Information Officer  Mike Rowell, Senior Vice President, Strategic Initiatives and Chief Information Officer
A native of Montgomery, Rowell joined Alfa in 1995 and has served as Tax Manager, Vice President of Corporate Development and Vice President of Business Development. Over the past 21 years, his responsibilities, experience and foresight have helped propel the company from a three-state operation to one that serves customers in 11 states. Before joining the team, Rowell earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Alabama and a master’s degree in tax accounting from Georgia State University. Additionally, he is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of Alabama. Rowell and his wife, Brenda, live in Montgomery and have three children, Taylor, Katherine and Sam. The Rowells attend First Baptist Church, where Mike also serves as a deacon.

Rex began his career with Alfa in 1995 and has served in all areas of P&C Underwriting including Commercial, Farm, Property and Auto. In his most recent position as Vice President of P&C Underwriting, Rex served as the Product Owner for Guidewire Policy Center, working closely across all departments to help Alfa be more customer-centric and efficient. His leadership and experience will be instrumental as we strive to better serve our customers through both technology and product innovations. As Senior Vice President, Rex will be responsible for P&C and Life Operations, along with the Document & Payment Strategies area. A native of Moulton, Alabama in Lawrence County, Rex grew up on a small family farm and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from The University of Alabama in 1992. In addition, he has earned a Certificate in General Insurance; the Chartered Property and Casualty (CPCU) designation; and is a graduate of the inaugural class of the Alfa Leadership Academy. Rex and his wife, Wendy, have a daughter, Frances. They are members of First Baptist Church of Montgomery, where Rex serves both as a deacon and Sunday School teacher.

   
Tim Timmons, Senior Vice President, North Alabama Marketing
Tim Timmons, Senior Vice President, North Alabama Marketing
Timmons entered the insurance profession in 1984 and began his career with Alfa in 1987 as an agent. In 1988, he was promoted to district manager and served 25 years in this role. He was named among the top five managers in the company 10 times. In 2010, he was named Manager of the Year for the company and received the same honor in 2011 while also being inducted into the prestigious Alfa Hall of Fame. In March of 2013, Timmons was appointed as the Vice President of Marketing for North Alabama. He holds CLU and LUTCF designations, and is a graduate of Faulkner University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration.

Venable joined Alfa in 2001 as a senior auditor and assumed the role as head of the Audit Services Department in 2005. In his new role, he will provide strategic oversight in the development and implementation of effective and cost-efficient programs across all Alfa companies and business units for Enterprise Risk Management; Corporate Compliance; Privacy; Audit Services; and Corporate Insurance. Venable’s professional designations include Certified Management Accountant, Certified Financial Manager, Certified Internal Auditor and Certified Fraud Examiner. He also holds insurance licenses in Property/Casualty, Life and Health lines. His professional affiliations include the Association of Fraud Examiners, Institute of Internal Auditors, Internal Insurance Audit Group, Institute of Management Accountants, and the Information Systems Audit and Control Association.

Venable graduated summa cum laude from Auburn University at Montgomery with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Prior to joining Alfa, Venable worked with Wilson Price IT as a business systems consultant, Knox Kershaw as a cost accountant and Russell Co. as a cost accounting specialist.
