Not sure how much Life Insurance you need?

Get a recommended coverage amount by answering a few simple questions.

How does Life Insurance work?
Life insurance is essentially an agreement between you and an insurance provider. You pay your premiums and, in return, the company agrees to pay a sum of money to your beneficiaries if you pass away.

Why do you need Life Insurance?
Life insurance gives your loved ones the opportunity to maintain their standard of living if their primary earner were to pass away. It can provide funds for mortgages, car loans, future education, burial costs, and more. Without life insurance, your outstanding debts could become a burden for your family.

When do you need Life Insurance?
The best time to get life insurance is now. If you have dependents who rely on your income, life insurance is crucial. Major life events like the birth of a child or purchasing a home are ideal times to get coverage. Preparing for your family’s future today means they won’t be faced with financial hardships later.

Discover the benefits of Annuities
An annuity is a financial contract with an insurance company designed to provide an income stream in the future. Learn how annuities can complement your life insurance plan and help secure your future.

Life Insurance FAQs

Permanent policies can last your lifetime without expiration, assuming all premiums are paid and the policy does not over loan, and term plans provide coverage for a specified amount of time, usually 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30 years. Consider term policies like renting a house and permanent policies like buying a house. Your agent can help you determine which type of life insurance is right for you.

Group life insurance policies are generally smaller policies that typically only cover one to two years of your annual salary or funeral expenses. It’s important to note that if you leave your job, your death benefits do not travel with you. Considering your life insurance needs are likely greater than what your employer provides, it’s recommended to secure a personal life insurance policy.

It’s wise for both you and your spouse to have life insurance coverage. In the unfortunate event of one partner’s death, would you want to change your family’s lifestyle to live on a single income? Additionally, if your spouse doesn’t work, think of the tasks that would need to be hired out in their absence, such as childcare, cooking, cleaning, etc.

Generally, life insurance payouts to the beneficiary are not taxable. Death benefits are typically not subject to income tax, and the named beneficiary can receive the benefits in multiple forms, the most common being a lump sum. Your tax advisor can assist you with any tax implications.
