As we gather with friends and loved ones this holiday season, it’s an opportunity to reflect on the past year and give thanks for our blessings.
At Alfa Insurance®, we are especially grateful for our customers who’ve entrusted us with protecting their homes, farms, cars, businesses and families.
When I think back on 2022, I do so with immense pride — notably of our Alfa® family and their commitment to making us a better company and stronger community partner.
Fresh off the heels of record new business growth in 2021, we set a goal to grow again in 2022. We met that goal.
This is a testament to the loyalty of Alfa customers and the hard work of agents, adjusters, sales specialists and home office employees to deliver competitive products backed by exceptional service.
Since 1946, Alfa has grown from a single-state, mutual fire insurance company serving farmers, to a regional carrier offering a full line of coverages in its core states of Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. Alfa also provides non-standard auto insurance in an additional 10 states through its Trexis® brand, headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee. This year, Alfa expanded the Trexis footprint into Arizona, Colorado and Nevada.
Supporting small businesses and churches was a focus for 2022, and we’re proud to protect so many local landmarks across our core states. Meanwhile, the company continued to enhance customer experience by providing online services including paperless billing, electronic documents, recurring payments and pay-by-text. Customers viewed their policies more than 1 million times at AlfaInsurance.com.
Homeowner policy innovation included enhanced coverage options and increased limits, while Alfa Life introduced smokeless tobacco and super-preferred rates for qualified universal life customers. Underwriting processes also were refined to improve efficiency and service.
When storms struck in the spring and fall, our agents and adjusters were among the first to answer the call. Throughout the year, we handled about 5,000 claims related to tornadoes and other major storm events.
As Alfa worked to serve and grow, we remained committed to being healthy for our customers, communities and team members. Alfa’s financial strength rating of A (Excellent) was affirmed by A.M. Best; cybersecurity and resiliency were enhanced; employee-submitted Bright Ideas were implemented; investments remained strong; and leadership development was emphasized across the company.
Team members and the Alfa Foundation also demonstrated how Alfa Cares during 2022.
One hundred $1,000 scholarships were awarded to help students with educational expenses; Alfa and Trexis teams contributed more than $180,000 to United Way; two home office blood drives provided more than 60 life-saving units; almost $10,000 was raised for American Cancer Society through bake sales; 100 children received gifts through Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program; and almost $3,000 was raised for Christmas Clearinghouse. These highlights don’t include contributions to charities through the Alfa Foundation or the immeasurable financial support and volunteer hours contributed to local causes by Alfa and Trexis team members.
A community-minded emphasis on relationships drove the company’s growth in 2022 as Alfa worked to exceed customer expectations through improved products, second-to-none claims service and ease of doing business.
As the company prepares for 2023, we are guided by a purpose that reflects our 76-year heritage —
Alfa is more than an insurance company. We’re a family committed to serving you and our communities by delivering the personalized experience and exceptional service you deserve, all rooted in our core values of faith, family, community and integrity. That’s the Alfa difference!
In the spirit of the holiday season, I want to say thank you for trusting Alfa to protect what you value most. From my family to yours, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a joyful New Year!
Jimmy Parnell
