General Information

Why do you need my personal information?
We only collect information that is needed to provide an accurate quote.  Our Privacy Policy can provide you with more detailed information.

Do I need information from my other policies to get a quote?
No, you do not need any information from your other policies to get a quote, but it may be helpful.  

I am a current auto policy holder, why can’t I get another quote online?
As an existing customer, you already have a policy so you can speak with an agent about any questions you may have. Find your agent.

Will my credit history be checked?
Credit history is one factor in the third-party insurance score report below. The credit check will show as an “insurance inquiry” on your credit history but does not affect your credit score calculations. 

What third-party reports are being used?
The following reports are received from third parties based on the information you provide. These reports help you get the most accurate quote.

  • Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
  • Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange (CLUE)
    Prior carrier pre-fill
  • Insurance score
  • Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) verification
  • Vehicle history report
  • Vehicle history scores

Does my policy have to start the day I purchase it?
If you choose to purchase your policy online, you can select a policy start date up to 60 days in the future.  

How do I cancel my current non-Alfa policy?
To cancel a non-Alfa policy, you’ll need to reach out to that insurance company’s agent or customer support department to request cancellation.

How will you use my driver’s license number?
Your driver’s license number is used to order a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) and Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange (CLUE) report. These reports help determine your rate and may be updated due to changes in driving history.

Why do you ask for my social security number?
Like most insurance companies, we require your social security number to purchase a policy online because it helps ensure we have accurate information to request various reports used in the process to help you get the most accurate rate possible. Our Privacy Policy can provide you with more detailed information.  

Can I designate an additional named insured?
If you need to add an additional named insured, contact your agent or call our Customer Resource Center at 1-800-964-2532.

What kind of claims service should I expect?
Alfa Insurance® is known for our excellent claims service. You can file a claim at any time by calling our Customer Resource Center at 1-800-964-2532, online or through the Alfa2Go® mobile app. 

Vehicle Information

What if my vehicle has customizations?
Our auto policies have a $1,000 limit for coverage of customizations. If you would like additional coverage to cover any customizations, please contact an agent or call the Customer Resource Center at 1-800-964-2532.

How does my vehicle affect my car insurance rate?
Your car insurance rate is based on numerous factors including the cost to repair or replace your vehicle.

What types of vehicles can I insure?
We provide online quotes for private passenger vehicles, trucks, SUVs and vans. If you would like a quote on another vehicle type, please contact an agent or call the Customer Resource Center at 1-800-964-2532. 

Driver Information 

Who should I list as a driver?
Drivers listed on your policy should include everyone who drives a quoted vehicle and anyone who lives in your household aged 15 or older.

What if I’m separated?
If you are separated and still legally married, your spouse will need to be listed on the policy.


How will you use my email address?
Your email address allows you to retrieve a saved quote to review later. We will also send you a summary of your completed quote. Our Privacy Policy can provide you with more detailed information.

How will I be contacted after getting a quote?
For the best personalized service possible, your quote may be assigned to an agent who may choose to reach out to you for more information.

Quote Information

How long will my quote be available?
The quote will be available online for 60 days. If you have trouble accessing your quote online, please contact an agent or call the Customer Resource Center at 1-800-964-2532.

What kind of discounts do you offer?
We offer several auto insurance discounts, and many are automatically applied to your quote based on the information you provide. You can see details about the discounts you qualify for when you finish your quote.

Payment Information

What payment options do I have when I submit an auto policy online?
We offer monthly and in-full payment options online. Additional payment options are available through your agent or by calling the Customer Resource Center at 1-800-964-2532.

Can I make payments online?
Yes, after purchasing your policy, future payments can be made at Automatic payments can be set up after creating a MyAlfa account.

What happens if my checking or savings account has insufficient funds when my payment is processed?
The bank would notify us that there are insufficient funds in the account used for payment. We will then send you a letter letting you know you have 10 days to replace the payment.

How can I lower my car insurance premium?
There are a lot of factors that determine your car insurance premium. Speak with your agent about options and possible discounts.


Will I receive documents in the mail?
Yes, after submitting your policy online, documents will be delivered to the mailing address you provide during the quoting process. 

Where do I find my proof of insurance cards?
You can download and print your Auto ID cards through your MyAlfa account, or you can view and save them on the Alfa2Go app. 

Which documents are sent by email?
The only forms sent by email are:

  • Alabama Uninsured Motorist Coverage Rejection Form/Driver Exclusion Forms
  • Electronic Funds Transfer
  • Auto Application

If I sign my policy forms electronically, will I still get a copy for my records?
When you sign your policy forms electronically, you will have the option to print or save the application documents once you have completed the process. There is a print option located on the DocuSign signature page.
