Be prepared for the worst while traveling with your watercraft. Suffer a breakdown? Trip Interruption insurance will provide coverage up to the policy limit for meals and lodging in the city where the breakdown occurred while you await repairs to your boat or trailer.

Example: You travel hours away from home for a bass fishing tournament when your boat suffers a covered loss and you have to extend your stay until your boat is fixed. Trip interruption coverage may help pay for additional expenses from lodging and meals, up to your policy limits.

Personal Effects Increased Coverage Endorsement

Your watercraft policy already includes coverage for personal property you may have on the boat such as cameras, cell phones, coolers, fishing and water skiing equipment, but the amount of coverage may not be enough to cover all your belongings. Be sure you’re fully covered with this endorsement.

Example: Your boat was custom-built for you and tailored for your needs. The limits on your primary watercraft policy are not enough to cover the personal effects should you suffer a total loss. The personal effects increased coverage endorsement will help pay to repair or replace the damages after your physical damage coverage limit has been met, up to the endorsement’s limits.

Watercraft Insurance FAQs

Depending on your policy type, boat insurance can cover both the boat and the driver. Like car insurance, boat insurance may cover you for liability and your boat or personal watercraft for damages in a covered accident. This includes if you cause damage to someone else’s property with your boat and/or injure someone else.

Boat insurance premium is determined by your location, age and type of boat, driver’s boating history and other relevant factors. Typically, boat insurance is around $200 - $500 annually. Contact your local agent to get a free boat insurance quote.

Yes, most boat insurance policies will provide protection for your boat while it’s in storage at a marina. Many marinas will require you to provide proof of insurance to keep your boat there.
