The Benefits of Paperless Billing and Documents
Insurance companies tend to send a lot of paper in the mail... policy documents, notices, billing statements, endorsements... the list goes on. While these are very important documents, they don’t always have to be in paper form. If you’re the type of person who prefers to get mail in your inbox rather than your mailbox, you’ll love our paperless options.
What does paperless mean?
The term “paperless” is typically used when information is provided electronically instead of on paper. Receiving an email instead of getting a paper document in the mail is an example of a paperless transaction.
What are the benefits of going paperless?
A few benefits of choosing electronic documents over paper include:
Better for the environment
Statistics show that the average American uses more than 700 pounds of paper every year. Additionally, the paper industry is one of the largest consumers of energy in the world. Going paperless can help conserve energy and reduce waste, little by little.
Convenient access to your documents
Having paperless documents means you can view them anytime and anywhere. Your documents will be stored in your MyAlfa® account online in your personalized document center. Paperless options not only help you save time, but they are also likely to be delivered in your inbox quicker than a paper document in your mailbox.
Less mail in your home
Everyone has an area in their home where mail is stashed until it gets sorted through, sometimes a few days later. It’s okay, we all do! However, if it’s an important or time-sensitive document, you don’t want to miss it. If you have a mail stash right now, chances are there’s probably some insurance papers in there. Paperless options allow you to limit the paper inside your home.
Increased Security
Imagine a mailbox thief steals your paper bills or important documents, leaving you with late fees and missed deadlines. Electronic bills allow you to better control your information and keep track of all payments online. Another increased security benefit is that all of your personal information is secured behind a password and is usually encrypted.
