MONTGOMERY, Ala., February 3, 2021 — Alfa Insurance President Jimmy Parnell has announced the promotion of Mark Evans to Executive Vice President of Marketing. Evans replaces Al Dees, who recently passed away following decades of dedicated service to Alfa®.
“It is my pleasure to announce Mark’s promotion to Executive Vice President of Marketing,” Parnell said. “He is a proven leader with a strong foundation of sales and management experience throughout Alfa’s Marketing Department. Mark has been instrumental in developing Alfa’s pricing and sales strategy while helping the company achieve a number of goals over the years, and I am confident in his abilities to move us forward.”
In his most recent role as Senior Vice President of Marketing for South Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi, Evans helped design Alfa’s Seven Points of Accountability and corporate goals that align with Alfa’s mission.
“Mark has worked with various departments across Alfa to help develop deep relationships and strengthen the alignment with Alfa’s Marketing Department and the field,” Parnell said. “His experience as an independent agent and reputation for building successful teams at the district and regional level will serve him well in this new role.”
Evans joined Alfa’s Marketing team in 1987 as an agent and was promoted to District Sales Manager in 1998. He is a consecutive four-time member of Alfa's President's Club and was named District Manager of the Year for Georgia and Mississippi in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. In 2010, he was named Vice President of Mississippi Sales and Development before being promoted to Regional Vice President in 2013. He later transitioned his focus to lead South Alabama's marketing efforts in early 2017 before being named Senior Vice President of Marketing for South Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi in 2020.
Evans said he looks forward to strengthening the Marketing Department and joining Alfa’s executive leadership team.
“Alfa’s advantage over the competition is our people,” Evans said. “No matter what position, we’ve got the best people working in this business, and they truly make the difference in how we care for our customers. I am excited for the opportunity to work among this group and help deliver on our promises.”
A native of Columbus, Miss., Evans studied business at Mississippi State University. He and his wife, Jean Ann, are members of Rock Creek Missionary Baptist Church in Arley, Ala., and Fairview Baptist Church in Columbus, Miss. The Evans have one son, Chris Rhett (Lucy), and four granddaughters, Evans, Emma Jane, Kate and Carrington.
